ACHIEVE in co-operation with project E-seaP

Ljubljana, 28. March 2013 – Focus has attended a meeting at the The Prison Administration of Republic of Slovenia, along with GI-ZRMK, which is implementing project E-seaP in Slovenia. We have presented ACHIEVE and possibilities for co-operation with institutions that are included in the project E-seaP.

ACHIEVE is still looking for new forms of promotion and dissemination of information about free energy advisers visits and advices for saving energy and water. An opportunity has emerged to co-operate with project E-seaP, which is also funded by the IEE program. The aim of E-seaP is to establish an international award and assessment framework to recognize achievements in improved energy sustainability in prisons.

E-seaP tackles the problem of energy efficiency in prisons by embracing a holistic approach that tackles three elements: namelsy the prison buildings and management, provision of education and training, dialogue with prison communities. Co-operation with ACHIEVE would be related mainly to the last element in the form of posters informing about the free enegy advisers visits to the households, which would be hung in visisitng rooms of the two correction facilities, that are part of the E-seaP. Leaflets about visits and advices on saving energy and water would be also available there.

Achieve Energy adviser has visited Energy Neighbourhoods

Ljubljana, 2. January 2013 – Similar projects can always find interesting forms of co-operation. Where there is a will there is a way, they say. And so the will to connect two projects led to a visit of Achieve Energy adviser to Energy Neighbourhoods.

Energy Neighbourhoods project is focusing on monitoring the use of electricity, heating and water. Savings are achieved primarily through change of habits of household members who can reach more than 10% savings with a more rational use of energy. If you know what and where

you are spending energy, you can take actions in areas where consumption is highest or unreasonable.

The firs part of the plan to reduce usage of energy is very similar in both projects. By doing the consumption analysis, we know which device is using the most energy and where it would be easiest to save. Despite the fact that we do emphasize the importance of habits and changing them to a more rational use of energy and water in the Achieve project, our basic savings are achieved with the help of saving devices (energy-saving light bulbs, aerators, draft proofing).

While Achieve Energy adviser visited Energy Neighourhoods additional savings were achieved that would not have been possible just by changing the habits. But it should be noted that the rational use of energy and appropriate habits are equally or even more important for energy savings than technology itself. Therefore we emphasize both of them and that is why every household, which is visited by Achieve adviser, gets tips for saving energy and water.

Visit of Energy adviser was documented in pictures and presented to participants of the Energy Neighbourhoods project.
